Twas the weekend before Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, except Missy and me.

Missy
The stockings were hung on the railing with care in hopes that the parents would fill them with candies to share.

Stockings
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of wrapped presents danced in their heads.
I crept downstairs and looked in the fridge. When, what to my wondering eyes did I see? 17 dozens of cupcakes where once my groceries should be!

Fridge
Away from my fridge I flew in a flash, tore open the back door to find my grocery stash. The light from the back porch revealed a mountain chaos. I blinked once or twice as I looked at the clutter for there in the darkness was my milk, eggs, and butter. The Christmas ham that I purchased at Aldi’s that day, lay on the ground in such dismay.

Ham
The raccoons and the chipmunks and the skunks and the squirrels, peered through the bushes with anticipated delight.
“For me?” they thought, with eyes wide with wonder.

Raccoon
But I in my robe with barefoot feet, was not about to let the critters enjoy my Christmas feast. With outstretched arms, I grabbed the ham and rescued it from it’s dismal fate.
Poor little ham, abandoned outside to fend for itself. I will save you ,little ham, from the feral cats and foxes!
I cradle, it like a lost child and hold it close to my heart. Tenderly, I carry it in my arms back into our home.
All is well, the ham is safe.
The cupcakes, so many cupcakes. Patiently, they wait for the day to dawn.
The baker elf is busy. She has grand plans for the cupcakes. She carefully adorns them with petals of red and leaves of green.

Cupcakes for friends. Cupcakes for Family. Cupcakes and Christmas. Cupcakes and carols.

Cupcake
Perhaps the chaos and confusion that the cupcakes create can be calmly accepted?
Perhaps I can lay aside my desire to control the chaos and find joy in the clutter?
Perhaps.
With a grateful heart I bow my head,
Thank you Lord for Christmas. Thank you Lord for cupcakes. Thank you for the many busy elves in my kitchen. Give me your grace to accept changes in my schedule and a little bit of crazy in my house. You are the Prince of Peace, even in the midst of the Christmas crazies.
Merry Christmas from the Kramer Crew!
