Carried by the Wind

How can a tiny seed help bring you peace?

When I say milkweed, what comes to mind? Monarch butterfly?

Do you know what the milkweed seed pouch looks like?

When you open the pouch, you will find many seeds with little feathery parachutes.

I have discovered that these little seeds are a marvelous way to cheer you up when you are in a funk.

Step 1: Thank God for something.

Step 2: Blow on a parachute and see how far the wind carries it.

Watching the milkweed parachute blow in the air, combined with prayers of gratitude, helps my brain move from agitation to peace.

Try it! Better yet, bring a friend along and have a contest to see whose parachute goes the farthest.

Thank you, God, for milkweed seeds and wind. Thank you for using your creation to help my mind relax. What a lovely way to count my blessings.

Psalm 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

P.S. Sometimes when I blow on the milkweed seed, it only goes a few feet in front of me, but when the seed is released into the wind, it travels far into the park. This reminds me of the work of the Holy Spirit, who takes our service for the Lord and does amazing things!

One day I came to the same park, and in the wind were large clouds of seeds floating all over the park. May God’s Spirit do the same with the seeds of the gospel till all people have a chance to hear the good news!

Shout out to all who share the good news around the world! Your labor is not in vain.
