Jen brings a bouquet of lilacs for her mother-in-law. Today the family celebrates Grandma Vogel’s birthday. Grandma pulls homemade biscuits from the oven and her daughter Kenda whisks the dried beef sauce. Elizabeth places the baby in his high-chair as we all sit at the table to enjoy the breakfast feast. Four generations from great-grandchild to great grandmother, what an amazing legacy.
When the meal is finished the family starts to sing. They reminisce about the songs they sang during Vacation Bible School and the talented music leader. Song sheets are shared as harmony fills the room like the sweet aroma of the lilac bouquet. It is one of those rare moments in life that causes one to weep tears of joy. A little taste of heaven.
Grandma Vogel’s life radiates with kindness. Her hands are always busy serving. She is a living example of the Proverbs 31 woman.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for godly women like Grandma Vogel and her legacy of faithfulness. Help us to follow her example and use our hands and talents to serve others.

Who can find a virtuous woman?
For her price is far above rubies.
She seeketh wool, and flax,
And worketh willingly with her hands.
She riseth also while it is yet night,
And giveth meat to her household,

Strength and honour are her clothing;
