While I lie, small and silent, inside this tiny dwelling, a metamorphosis occurs.
My life outside the cocoon was busy and full of activity until the Creator gently reminded me that the time had come to change.
“What will happen to me inside the cocoon?” I ask the Creator.
“The old will be broken down and something new will come out,” He gently replies.
“Will it hurt?” I question with trembling voice.
“Do you fear pain, little one?” His eyes are kind as he holds me in His large hand.
“Yes, I fear pain. I fear the unknown. I fear the dark. Can’t I just stay like I am?” I plead.
“You are going to have to trust Me. The new life awaiting you is so much better than the one you live now,” He answers with a voice strong and sure.

His words still ring in my soul as I wait inside this cocoon. I wait. I rest. I try to be quiet and trust His process of metamorphosis. The old is being broken down-there is pain, but also hope.
What will my new life look like?
I wonder.

Are you ready for a change?
Are you willing to face your fears?
The time has come to change.
Time to lay aside the old ways and try something new.
Time to trust again and accept the risk.
Who knows what beautiful transformation will emerge?
Who knows where the wings of change will carry you?
What will your new life look like?
I wonder.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Prayer
A new year begins and we wish for better things. Lord, we ask that you transform us. Give us courage to face our fears. Renew our inner person. Wash away the shame and pain from the past. Remind us of your presence while you break down the old and fashion us into someone new. Help us to trust you in all things.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen

P.S. Julia, my daughter, reminded me that cocoons produce moths not butterflies, but I like the word cocoon better than chrysalis.
