My appointment is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in York, PA. I live in Lebanon County, which is about an hour away. The reason for my visit? My bladder was on fire again. It hurt so badly, I just wanted Jesus to take me to heaven. Our therapist, Paul Miller, walked me through some therapy over the phone, while I tried to control my breathing and follow his instructions.
After contacting both my primary care physician and my specialist, appointments were scheduled. The urine sample tested positive for bacteria, and I started taking the prescribed antibiotic.
Today I am sitting in a waiting room, listening for my name to be called. In the room are others, one of them a young Hispanic man. Suddenly, the door opens and a lovely woman, surrounded by her family’s excited chatter, bursts into the silence. The woman is smiling and soon the husband is smiling too-the whole family is rejoicing and hugging each other. In spite of the language barrier, there is no doubt what is taking place-a new life, a baby, has been discovered, and the whole family is rejoicing. What a precious moment!
The family reunion exits the waiting room, and I hear my name called. The protocol is performed: step on scale, take blood pressure, and answer questions. Then my specialist appears with some startling news: I can’t do the procedure today because you are taking antibiotics. What???? You mean I drove all the way from Lebanon to be told I can’t be treated today? Yep.
I leave the doctor’s office and wonder, “God did you bring me all the way to York to see that family celebrate?” I scheduled this appointment to get help with my pain. Maybe God is helping on a deeper level by showing me this sacred moment-the gift of life. God is reminding me that life is a gift.
Reflection
Are you in a waiting room today?
Waiting for God to change your circumstances?
Waiting for God to change your spouse?
Waiting for your kids to start making good choices?
Waiting for God to remove the struggle?
Waiting for the pain to leave?
God’s waiting room is a sacred place. It is where we learn to lean into His strength. It is where we press into His promises regardless of what storm is howling outside.
Prayer
Father God,
We are waiting for You to call our name. We are waiting for you to make things clear. We are trusting that this pain we are feeling is not in vain. This is not the end of the story; this is only the introduction. You have a beautiful life in store for us. You have amazing plans, but for now you ask us to wait-
Wait and trust,
Trust and obey,
Obey and rest,
Rest in You.

Here we are Lord-me and my sisters-in-Christ. We choose to wait for You. Your ways are so much better than ours. We choose to let go of the fear and rest in Your strong arms.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Read this Psalm and place your name in the blank:
_______ waits for the Lord, with her whole being waits,
and in his word she puts her hope.
She waits for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
_________, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem _________
from all her sins. Based on Psalm 130: 5-8

My personal thought is that it is a note to the worship leader to stop singing and let the instrumentalist play. While the instrumentalists are playing, it gives a chance for the individual to focus on God and His Word. I pray that as you read these blogs, God will speak to your heart and draw you closer to Himself.
