Bind Us Together

What does a museum in Conneticut have to do with Isaiah 40?

Written by Tina Kramer

While visiting the Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut,

we enter a long building used for making ropes.

Fibers suspended between two points are twisted and twisted,

over and over,

layer upon layer.

Resistance and tension- necessary ingredients for a strong rope.

Keep that picture in your mind when you see this phrase: “wait on the Lord.”

“But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV).

Did you know that the word “wait” means to “bind together” and to “twist and stretch” such as when making a rope? 1

God desires us to knit ourselves together with Him, just like the fibers of that rope. As we knit ourselves to Him, He will renew our strength.

Prayer

Father God,

As we endure tensions and pressures that threaten to sink our ship, may we bind ourselves to You. Knit our hearts to be steadfast regardless of the howling storms around us. Hold us tight as we wait upon You to renew our strength.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

Health Update

I am adjusting to the CPAP machine. My longest time was 2 hours. I don’t understand how people sleep with this thing on their face! The machine recorded 6 apnea events last night and I only wore it for an hour. Can that be right? I have no memory of that many episodes. If that is correct, it is no wonder I feel so tired! Coninue to pray for me to be able to sleep well with the mask on my face.

Also pray for our family as Sean and I go through therapy. Our assignment this week was to sing together. I like that kind of homework!
