Are you angry with God?

Sitting with my family in the sanctuary of our church, I am surprised at the words on the screen . . . .

Sitting with my family in the sanctuary of our church, I am surprised at the words on the screen: “Are you angry with God?”

Next screen flashes the word: “Doubt.”Didn’t we recently discuss these topics during therapy? How is it that the sermon mentions the same issues I am wrestling with during sessions?

This is not the first time that God has used phrases from the sermon to point out things in my life. (Trust the Process)

Here are my notes from the sermon:

  • Keep walking, even in doubt
  • Do I believe God answers prayers?
  • Do I believe the Word like Abraham?
  • Even when my prayers were not answered?
  • Experiencing the peace of God.

Yes, even a seasoned Christian like myself still struggles with doubt and anger. Working through trauma allows me to process these painful emotions by being honest with God.

Prayer

Father God,

You know my heart. You understand me. You hold me close and remind me that being honest with you is the best path towards healing. So here I am- waiting for you to lead me to the next step towards being made whole.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

Painting of trees by Tina Kramer

Sometimes I feel like a young sapling whose growth has been stunted by growing in rocky soil of a traumatic childhood (like the tree at the top of blog). I need the Master Gardener to remove the rocks of lies and dysfunction and water my roots with His nourishing truth! I want to be a healthy tree by God’s stream of grace:

The one who trusts in God’s process will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.” Psalm 1:3 Painting by Tina Kramer

Shout-out to all our pastors for sharing God’s truth! Praise God for their wives who faithfully serve alongside them.
