Truckers

Caution: This blog contains disturbing events.

The 70’s were known for the CB radio and the trucker craze. TV series such as Movin’ On rolled across the screen while kids played games called 10-Four Good Buddy.

During our time of hiding, two truckers picked mom and I up and drove us in their big semi-truck. These men reminded me of the two actors on the TV show. We went to a hotel. During the night, something bad happened to my mom. All I remember is sleeping in bed with my mom, being pushed away, and told not to look.

How sad that my mother wanted so desperately to keep me safe, and yet just the opposite happened.

I’m not sure what to do with this part of my life.

A deep sadness fills my soul.

Little girls should not have to be exposed to such violence.

Prayer

Heavely Father,

I am not the only little girl who has been damaged by violence. There are numerous children every day who suffer awful things.

When you lived among us, you said, “Let the children come to me. . . for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Jesus then took the children in his arms, blessed them, and placed his hands on them.” (Mark 10:-13-16)

Here is my small self. This little girl who lives inside me. I ask that you would hold her tight and remind her that she is safe with you. For most of my life, I have felt unsafe. All kinds of events trigger fear, and my adult self returns emotionally to those years of chaos and uncertainty. Help me move forward on the path to wholeness.

Lord, I am not alone in my struggle. I pray for others who have been violated. Wash them from those painful memories. Soothe their aching hearts. Restore them with the truth from your Word.

We choose to rest in the promise that one day every tear will be wiped away. One day evil will be forever destroyed and we will enjoy You forever.

Pray that Sean, my husband, and I would be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit during this healing process.

  1. Such a sad story that is taking so much to overcome. God wastes nothing in our lives and is likely helping so many others. Hugs to you!
